Gender Wars

OMG WE'RE GOING TO WAR!?!?!?!?!

Well, kind of. . . The Gender Wars Week is a friendly competition between male and female Marianopolis students to see who can fundraise the most money in a given amount of time. The money raised will be donated as financial aid to an incoming student of the winning gender.

On March 10, 2011, at precisely 1:00pm (Activity Period), Marianopolis students will assemble in the student lounge to dance the Macarena, a.k.a. a FLASH MOB. For each person who attends, a certain amount of money will be donated by sponsors to your team (guys' team or girls' team). This means, that YOUR PRESENCE will actually make a difference in someone's life. However, for it to count, boys must be wearing something BLUE; and girls, PINK.

All week, girl/guy ambassadors will be going around school to collect money for their team. Make sure to support your gender!

Also, on March 8, video games such as Guitar Hero and Dance Dance Revolution will be set up in the Student Lounge for guys and girls to face off. Loser pays $2 for the opposite team.

At the end of the week, we will calculate which sex is the strongest!

Guys and girls, show us what you've got!!!

Oh! and don't forget to RSVP on Facebook! (girls' group vs. guys' group)

Did you know that twenty percent of Marianopolis students are receiving some form of financial aid, and despite the common stereotype, not everyone at the college is incredibly rich?

The goal of this event is to raise the student body's awareness of this issue and encourage students to help their peers, all while having fun and increasing school spirit.
